The château Kunín belongs to the most valuable baroque châteaux in Moravia. It was established for the counts of Harrach during 1726 - 1734 by a prestigious austrian architect Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt. The château flourished in the 18th and 19th century under Marie Walburga, the countess from Truchsess-Waldburg-Zeil who was the proprietor of the château and who build here one of the most modern educational institutions of the earlier central Europe. His best known pupil was later "Father of the Nation" and a great czech historian František Palacký.

At present the devastated château is under reconstruction and the original château collections are being brought back in there.
